The stock levers on the Hypermotard 698 are actually pretty nice levers, although like most OEM levers I think they're a bit too long. The levers are adjustable, however I couldn't quite get them in as far as I wanted before running out of adjustment. The adjustment knobs can also be a little finiky and are hard to turn. We've used aftermarket levers from ASV and Evotech on several of our project bikes, so decided to try them out on our Hyper 698.
Evotech Levers:
First we installed the Evotech levers (shown above), going with their short clutch and brake lever set. I know alot of people really like the short 2-finger style levers, and personally I'm fine with that on the brake side, but I'm not a big fan of the short clutch levers... I just want something a little longer on the clutch side. Luckily Evotech offers both a short (2-finger) and standard (stock length) lever set, and we test fit both of them on our Hyper, both with the stock handguards and also our PRO Handguard Package, and they fit just fine. One thing to note on the Evotech levers, the standard length lever set is a folding design, whereas the short lever set is NOT folding. I guess they felt that with the shorter levers, there was less of a need to make them folding to help prevent damage. These levers have a 6 position adjustment for reach, so you can fine tune them to your hand size. I had them set all the way in on both sides and it seemed slightly better fit for me than the stock levers when adjusted all the way in. The black with red colors look great on the Hyper. Overall I really like the Evotech levers and they are a very nice upgrade over the stock setup.
ASV F3 Levers:
Once we'd tested the Evotech levers, we installed a set of ASV F3 Series levers (shown above). Since the ASV levers are sold individually, we decided to go with a standard length (stock length) clutch lever and a shorty (2 finger) brake lever. This is actually my personal preference on a lot of bikes, and I've been running the standard/shorty combo since my motocross days. The ASV F3 levers are really nice and I actually like them a little bit more overall than the Evotech's. The ASV F3 levers are forged aluminum and feature adjustable reach with 4 inches of range via the micro-indexing dial reach adjuster that has 180 increments, and I was able to get them set pretty much perfect for my liking. One really really nice thing about these F3 levers is the 3-year unconditional crash damage guarantee directly through ASV, can't beat that!
Conclusion:
After using both sets of levers for a few hundred miles, I thought both the Evotech's and the ASV's were a nice upgrade over the stock levers. The Evotech's are a nice high quality lever, and they're less expensive than the ASV's, but personally I thought the ASV F3 levers, with their better reach adjustment, were just a little bit nicer lever overall, and they just had a better "feel" to them compared to the Evotech's. I also liked how I could mix the standard length clutch lever with the shorty brake lever, which you can't do with the Evotech's. So, we've kept the ASV's on the bike as our lever of choice, and that's the ones that we recommend for the 2024+ Ducati Hypermotard 698.
