Like many DRZ400 owners, we decided the stock rear tail light and turn signal assembly (shown in pic below) had to go. "Big and Ugly" is what best describes it. Over the weekend we installed our DRZ400 DRC Edge2 Integrated Tail Light Package Deal. This package includes the popular DRZ400 DRC Edge2 Tail Light kit, along with a 12oClockLabs DRC Edge2 Processor Upgrade Board. The upgrade board is a drop in replacement for the OEM LED board inside the Edge Tail Light, and provides programmable integrated turn signals, as well as safety brake pulsing. The unit also has brighter LED's than the stock Edge2 board, and is designed with 500,000 life hour capacitors for exceptionally long life operation. There is also an integrated license plate light built into the bottom of the tail light.
The whole setup bolts directly to the DRZ400S / DRZ400SM subframe and no modifications are necessary. Since it's an integrated tail light w/flashers, there are no external blinkers/flashers. How does that work? when you turn on your turn signal, one half of the tail light flashes. There are 5 selectable turn signal patterns to choose from [half chase, full chase, fixed blink, normal blink, etc.], so you can customize the way the turn signals flash.
The before and after photos shown above give you an idea of how much better the DRC tail light looks. Notice how nice and compact the final product is compared to the enormous stock rear tail light and turn signals. And even though the DRC kit is smaller than the factory tail light assembly, I think it is just as visible from behind, since the LED's are so bright. Also, when you hit your brakes, the tail light will automatically pulse a few times to warn drivers behind you.

Installation:
The kit comes with instructions, and installation is pretty straightforward. This is how we wired ours (click photo below to enlarge). We used the optional OEM Connector Kit, which are the plugs you see on the ends of each set of wires below. Using these plugs allows you to just plug the whole setup directly into the plugs already on the bike...
